Gold Panda is the alias of UK electronic producer Derwin Schlecker. Adorned with a variety of samples, loops and sound manipulations, his tracks unfold into the melodic yet broken soundscape that is Gold Panda. In 2009, after releasing countless remixes, Schlecker was invited to re-edit tracks from the likes of Simian, Mobile Disco, HEALTH, Bloc Party and The Field. The results of these edits was the first material Schlecker released under the name Gold Panda. Around the same time, he came out with a series of low key EP’s most of which were compiled into his 2011 release "Companion", featuring early hits "Quitters Rage", "Fifth Ave" and "Mayuri".
2010 became his breakthrough year as he made it onto BBC’s Sound of 2010 shortlist and presented his debut album "Lucky Shiner" featuring tracks like "You", "Marriage" and "Vanilla Minus". Lucky Shiner was released to critical acclaim and as a testament of approval Gold Panda received The Guardian’s First Album award the following year.
The 2013 follow-up album "Half Of Where You Live" received similar praise and in turn Gold Panda extensively toured the world to respond to the enthusiasm he was met with and to support the albums success. This summer Gold Panda will hit Trailerpark’s Royal Stage only a couple of months after the release of his latest album "Good Luck and Do Your Best" (May 27th 2016), playing a set that will take you through his back catalogue and keep you dancing till the early morning.
